FAQs

Q: I’m currently on medication, how will that be administered while I am in treatment?

A: State and Federal Laws require that all Medications remain locked up and under direct control by staff.  All medications are only to be used under direction of medical supervision.

Q: Will medication be used as part of my treatment?

A: Yes, as prescribed.

Q: Will my treatment be confidential?

A: Yes.  State and Federal Laws protect your identity.

Q: Will I have access to a phone?

A: Phone Black-out required 1st week; our staff will update progress during the first week of treatment.  After the first week, phones are provided for local calls.  No mobile phones allowed during Phase 1.

Q: Can I continue to work/go to school during treatment?

A: Yes, but only during Phase 3 or our Extended Care Programs.

Q: Can my family and friends visit me during treatment?

A: Yes, during Phases 2 or 3 and only with staff authorization.

Q: Are accomodations available for my visitors?

A: There are local hotels in the area to accommodate visitors.

Q: Are there set visiting hours?

A: Yes, preferably on weekends.  Visitation outside of weekends requires staff approval.

Q: My family wants to be involved in my recovery process, what can they do?

A: Al-Anon—For over 50 years, Al-Anon (which includes Alateen for younger members) has been offering hope and help to families and friends of alcoholics.

Q: What makes The Shores treatment different than other recovery programs?

A: Location—we are in a quiet residential community. Our residences are single family homes, not apartments.  Our homes average only 4 clients.

Q: Is transportation available for doctor visits and other appointments?

A: Yes, transportation is provided to all appointments and scheduled events.

Q: Is there a minimum age requirement?

A: At this time, adults over 18 only.

Q: Does The Shores offer detox programs?

A: Yes, please contact us to discuss your personal situation.

Q: How will my special dietary needs (diabetic/heart disease/etc.) be accomodated?

A: Nutrition is an important part of our holistic approach to treatment.  The personal trainer will help determine what is best for your dietary needs.

Q: I currently attend weekly church services, is this offered in your progam?

A: Yes; however we only promote all-inclusive spirituality, we will not force you to attend any specific religious services.  We will assist you in attending local services of your choice.
